Power restored to 2,500+ following South Austin crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin police say a car hit a power pole on the I-35 service road north of Onion Creek Parkway, splitting it in half Sunday afternoon. About 2500 people lost power.

Officers were called to the 11300 block of southbound Interstate 35 at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The crash blocked the inside lane of traffic.

Power was restored to about 1,000 people at about 5:30 p.m. Lights came on for the remaining 1,500 customers at about 6:00 p.m.
