FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KXAN) — A pilot was taken by helicopter to the hospital after crashing his single-engine plane at the Gillespie County Airport.

The pilot was trying to land about 2:40 p.m. when a strong crosswind blew the plane off course. The plane rolled multiple times on the tarmac before coming to rest upside-down near the runway, Fredericksburg Police Lt. Brian Haley said.

The man was taken to University Hospital in San Antonio in stable condition. His injuries were not life threatening. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
