Clean and organize your closet

Next time you open your closet door, will it be all neat and organized or will it be a “hot mess”? If your closet fits the latter, we have help for you.  Misty Rodriguez from California Closets joined us in studio with ways to clean and organize your closets. Wardrobe purging is a great way to start. Bring a friend and a large donation bag and have at it. Practice the one in/one out rule- whenever you buy something new think of something old that can go out.

Once that closet is cleared, how can you make it visually appealing? California Closets recommends buying matching hangers. They showed us wooden and velvet hangers. Also try organizing your closet by type (i.e. all tops in one area sorted by color-they suggest light in front, dark in back).

Need further help with organizing your closet or the rest of your house, stop by California Closets store on North Lamar and 5th Street. Their store has ideas and answers to all you design questions. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
