Amanda Brandeis

Amanda Brandeis joined the KXAN News team in May 2014 as a multiplatform journalist. As an MPJ, Amanda shoots, writes and edits her own stories.

Amanda comes to Texas from Colorado, where she worked at KREX-TV as a weekend anchor/producer and reporter.

During her time in Western Colorado, Amanda covered a wide range of stories. She reported extensively on the legalization of recreational marijuana as well as controversial gun-control laws. She also covered visits from President Obama, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan during the 2012 election.

But ultimately, her favorite stories are the ones that make change in the community and give people a voice. She believes everyone has a story and it deserves to be heard.

Amanda’s reporting earned her a Colorado Broadcasters Association award in 2013 for Best General Assignment Reporting. She was also named 2013 Journalist of the Year in Mesa County, Colorado.

Amanda is originally from southern California. When she’s not telling stories, you can find her out on the water, in the gym or tasting all the delicious food Austin has to offer. She also loves to hike and is on a quest to find the best trails across Central Texas!

If you have a story idea, Amanda would love to hear it. You can email her at or follow her on social media:
