AUSTIN (KXAN) — A motorcyclist died after he collided with a car on East Parmer Lane at Samsung Boulevard on Tuesday evening.

Austin-Travis County EMS said the motorcyclist who died is a man in his late 20s. Austin police say the crash happened just before 7 p.m. in the 2800 block of East Parmer Lane, and one eastbound lane of East Parmer Lane was blocked while police investigated the crash.

A preliminary investigation found that a gray 2007 Infiniti heading west on Parmer turned into the motorcyclist’s black 2014 Yamaha heading east. Police say the Infiniti failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle, which crashed into the passenger side of the car. That killed the driver of the motorcycle immediately, while the car’s passenger was hospitalized without life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, alcohol is not a contributing factor in this case, and police say no criminal charges are expected to be filed. This case is still being investigated, and with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit detectives at 512-974-8543. This was Austin’s 33rd deadly traffic crash and the 40th death of 2014. At this time in 2013, there were 52 deadly crashes and 53 deaths. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
