AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department bomb squad detonated a suspicious package found near a donation collection site and determined it did not contain explosives.

Officers arrived on scene around 7 p.m. and blocked off parking lots near the site at 11th Street and Interstate 35 during the investigation. Traffic between the frontage road and San Marcos Street, and portions of the northbound frontage road, were also blocked.

All lanes of Interstate 35 were briefly blocked while the bomb squad detonated the device.

No further details about the package or its contents were immediately available.
