TxDOT chief apologizes for TxTag troubles

AUSTIN (KXAN) – If you’ve tried paying your toll bill online lately, chances are you’re among nearly 1,300 drivers who can’t access their accounts.

We’ve been telling you about some big problems in the new TxTag payment system since this summer when the state switched vendors.

TxDOT tells KXAN it’s working toward a solution, and those drivers won’t be charged late fees.

The agency’s head apologizes, saying: “The people of the State of Texas, and specifically our toll users, deserve better than what we have laid out for them during this transition.  I am sorry for any and all inconvenience our users have experienced during this time.”
