The Marble Falls community is mourning the loss of a 9-year-old boy killed in a four wheeler accident.

The Burnet County Sheriff told KXAN that Cooper DeSpain died Friday night when the ATV he was riding flipped over and rolled on top of him.

The sheriff said it happened on private property on FM 1174 about a mile north of FM 1431. The boy was making the short trip to his grandfather’s house.

Cooper’s mother is a teacher with Marble Falls ISD. Friends are posting dozens of condolences on family Facebook pages.

On a fundraiser webpage set up by a family member, Cooper’s older sibling posted the following statement:

“He was 9 years old and the sweetest kid I’ve ever known. As the pinnacle of our family, his absence has left us all shocked and distraught. We know that he is in a better place and will continue to cherish his memory.”
