U.S. breastfeeding rates continue to rise

Austin (KXAN) – August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. There are efforts going on to advocate, raise attention and strengthen resources to help more mothers breastfeed.

The number of mothers choosing to breastfeed has grown, and with good reason.

Breastfeeding provided numerous benefits to a newborn.

Neonatologist Dr. Susan Landers talks with Erin Cargile about those benefits and why it can sometimes be hard for a new mother to nurse.
