Scuba crews take to Comal to clean up tubers’ big mess

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — Tubing draws big crowds to many rivers in Central Texas during the summer, but those crowds leave a lot of trash behind.

Groups took to the Comal River in New Braunfels on Thursday to clean up the mess.

In 2013, crews cleared 53 pounds of trash from the river over the Fourth of July weekend. In 2014, that amount skyrocketed to 313 pounds of trash.
