HOUSTON (AP) — A teenager faces charges after being stopped while driving a car belonging to a 35-year-old man found slain in a Houston motel bathtub.
Houston City Jail records show the 17-year-old suspect was being held without bond Wednesday pending formal charges.
Investigators did not immediately identify the man whose body was discovered Tuesday, in a bloody scene, by a motel worker planning to clean the room.
Police say the teen and the man apparently checked into a room, an argument broke out and the victim was beaten, choked and stabbed.
An officer a short time, unaware of the earlier slaying, stopped a vehicle going the wrong way on a frontage road and detained the driver, whose clothing was bloody. Authorities later determined the vehicle belonged to the victim.
