Man charged after breaking into Leander home and kidnapping woman

Jaimes Garcia

LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — Police arrested a man early Wednesday after he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from her Leander home.

The woman’s son called 911 about 3:30 a.m. saying Taide Jaimes-Garcia, 35, had broken into their home in the 100 block of Presidio Drive and taken his mother. Police arriving on scene learned Jaimes-Garcia was headed towards Austin and that another of the victim’s sons had followed them.

The woman was later able to escape the vehicle and reunite with her son.

Jaimes-Garcia was tracked down to a home in Austin and taken into custody. He was booked into the Williamson County Jail and will be charged with burglary with the intent to commit a felony, a higher charge than kidnapping.
