AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Central Texas woman who was facing charges in connection with a deadly crash last month was found dead Monday afternoon in her Austin apartment.

Suzanne Hodgson’s body was found just after 5 p.m., according to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office. She was facing an intoxication manslaughter charge in connection with a July 29 crash on State Highway 71 at Farm to Market 1209 in Bastrop County.

Troopers said Hodgson, 28, was behind the wheel when her car crashed into a truck stopped at a red light. The truck burst into flames.

Lorenzo Ruiz, the driver of the pickup, died at the scene. His passenger, Laura Perez, was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge where she was listed in stable condition.

Austin police say they are investigating Hodgson’s death as a suicide, but an official cause of death has not been determined at this time.
