Motorcyclist killed in Northwest Austin crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A motorcyclist was killed after being involved in a collision with a truck on Tuesday.

The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Anderson Mill Road and the northbound U.S. 183 service road.

Initial information indicates the motorcyclist was going northbound on Anderson Mill Road at high rate of speed when he struck a pick-up truck in the center lane, according to Austin police. Christopher Gorubec, 34, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

Westbound lanes of Anderson Mill Road were blocked as investigators worked at the scene.

This was Austin’s 30th deadly traffic crash and the 36th fatality of 2014. At this time in 2013, there were 50 deadly crashes and 51 fatalities.
