Gas leak prompts evacuations in Williamson County

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — Residents of Parkside at Mayfield Ranch were allowed back into their homes in Williamson County after a gas leak on Tuesday.

Homes on Claiborne Lake Ln., Atlanta Park Dr., and portions of Choke Canyon were evacuated due to the leak. The neighborhood is located north of the Williamson County Regional Park along County Road 175.

The leak happened after a contractor hit a gas line, an Atmos Energy spokesperson said. Eighteen homes were affected and no injures were reported.

The Williamson County Office of Emergency Management says they were notified about the leak around 4:30 p.m. Residents were allowed back into their homes shortly before 8 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
