CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Police have identified two people killed in a crash over the weekend in Caldwell County.

Driver Veronica Razo, 31, and passenger Sonia Ramirez, 27,– both of Dallas — died Saturday when their SUV’s tire blew out on State Highway 130 just north of Lockhart.

Some 10 others were injured following the Caldwell County crash that happened at 11:32 a.m.

The 2007 GMC Yukon was headed south on SH 130 when officials say the tread of the right rear tire peeled off and the driver lost control. The SUV went off the road and rolled several times.

When first responders arrived, they found eight people ejected from the SUV, and four more were trapped inside.

Razo and Ramirez died at the scene, while 10 other people were taken to nearby hospitals with critical injuries. Five of them were children: two 4-year-olds, a 10- and 12-year-old and another child whose age is unknown.

The rest were adults, including a 31- and 59-year-old.

Department of Public Safety officials say no one in the SUV was wearing their seat belt, and the children were not restrained in car seats.
