Man drowns in Hamilton Pool

TRAVIS COUNTY (KXAN) — Divers have recovered the body of a man who drowned at Hamilton Pool while swimming with friends Sunday.

Austin-Travis County EMS and STARFlight were called to the pool shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday. Crews transitioned their efforts to recovery mode after divers searched for more than 20 minutes.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Recovery Team found the man’s body several hours later. He was pronounced dead at 9:25 p.m.

EMS officials say Victor Monsi, 21, was swimming with friends when he went under. They say he was visiting the area from out-of-town.

At its deepest point, Hamilton Pool is about 25 feet deep, according to EMS.
