NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — Police say an Austin woman nearly drowned in the Comal River Saturday evening.

At about 7:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of a possible drowning at the last tubers exit near the intersection of East Lincoln Street and South Union Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old woman who had been pulled from the water and was not breathing. Witnesses performed CPR until medics arrived.

The woman regained vital signs and was taken by helicopter to University Hospital in San Antonio. She was listed in critical condition Sunday.

Police are investigating the incident. They do not suspect foul play.
