Aransas Pass bridge reopens after barge crash

ARANSAS PASS, Texas (AP) — A bridge in Southeast Texas has reopened following a temporarily closure after it was struck by a barge.

The Texas Department of Transportation said Thursday that the incident happened at the Dale Miller Bridge in Aransas Pass.

The route between Aransas Pass and the Port Aransas ferry landing was closed Thursday afternoon. The bridge was reopened by early Thursday evening.

A U.S. Coast Guard spokesman says the barge named Captain Smoke was trying to cross under the bridge.
