Caldwell County 20-year-old charged with attempted murder

CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A 20-year-old Caldwell County man has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated robbery in a stabbing that happened earlier this week.

Sheriff’s officials say Jonathan McDonald stabbed someone before stealing that person’s truck in the 100 block of Misty Drive in Uhland on Monday.

Investigators tried to track down McDonald and the allegedly stolen truck by speaking to witnesses and McDonald’s family members but were unable to turn up anything — until Wednesday.

Authorities serving warrants at McDonald’s home found him and arrested him on charges of criminal attempted murder and aggravated robbery. McDonald is in the Caldwell County Jail, where bond is set at $75,000 for each charge.

Meanwhile, the stabbing survivor was taken to Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle, where he was evaluated and then taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin due to the severity of his wounds.

Police are reminding area neighbors to report illegal activity to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at 512-398-6777.
