16th Street closed during death investigation

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police closed 16th Street at Lavaca on Friday as they investigated a death in the area.

Officers were sent to 300 W. 16th Street on a “check welfare” call at 3:40 p.m. Officer arrived to find a deceased person.

Police said the death did not appear to be suspicious. Additional details surrounding the death or the situation leading up to it have not been released.
