Hungry bear looking for snack gets downright trashy

CIMARRON, N.M. (NBC/Russell’s One Stop) — A bear in southern New Mexico felt like a late-night snack, so where did it go?

In Cimarron, Russell’s One Stop was the choice for fine midnight dining.

Actually, it was a little after 2 a.m. Monday when security cameras at the gas station and convenience store caught the bear on camera rummaging through the station’s gas pump trash can.

Leisurely dining was the order of the day, as the animal pulled out all the trash and sorted through it.

Then, it just wandered off into the night.

Some western states are testing out bear-proof trash containers. This location obviously did not have one. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
