AUSTIN (KXAN) — “It’s been almost 37 years to the day that I graduated from UT,” said  Admiral William H. McRaven during his opening of the commencement speech he delivered to the University of Texas’ 2014 graduating class in mid-May.

“I remember a lot of things about that day,” he went on, joking about a throbbing headache from a party the night before.

McRaven’s address to more than 8,000 graduates that day went viral. It’s likely due to the 10 simple life lessons he imparted, starting with the first — and perhaps most important — of the feat of making your bed in the morning.

The Texas Exes YouTube video now has more than 2.2 million views.
