ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — A newly built $1 million skate park in Arlington will be temporarily closed while city workers clean up graffiti.

City employees say they discovered extensive damages Monday morning. They say the concrete park was defaced with colorful phrases and pictures.

The Parks and Recreation director tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram it will likely cost more than $1,000 to clean. The closure is expected to last at least two weeks.

The 21,000-square-foot park was opened in April. Arlington voters approved $500,000 for the park in a 2008 bond election and the rest was funded by the city’s natural gas lease revenue.
