Fiery crash on SH 71 in Bastrop Co. kills man

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A fiery crash has shut down State Highway 71 at Farm to Market 1209 in Bastrop Country.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the three-vehicle crash happened around 7:15 p.m.

Initial information indicates two of the vehicles caught on fire and one man who was not able to get out of one of the vehicles died.

Another person involved in crash was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with unknown injuries.

A witness, Jay Arredondo, tells KXAN News that bystanders were able to help get several of the people out of the damaged vehicles but the two vehicles “burst into flames” before they were able to get to the man.
