Woman killed, 2 injured after driver ran red light

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Sunday morning crash near Lakeline and the North U.S. 183 southbound service road left one person dead and two others injured.

Austin-Travis County EMS received the call at 7:13 a.m. When they got there, they found bystanders giving CPR to a woman in her 40s. EMS pronounced 31-year-old Diana Marie Juarez dead at 7:22 a.m.

Police say Juarez was riding in the passenger seat of a 2004 Dodge Neon traveling west on Lakeline Boulevard when the car ran the red light and was hit by a Chevy Silverado. Medics also took a teenage girl and a young boy to the hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening, police added. The drivers of the car and truck were not injured.

This was Austin’s 28th deadly traffic crash and the 35th fatality of 2014. At this time in 2013, there were 49 deadly crashes and 50 fatalities.
