Aztex season ends in Southern Conference finals

The Aztex hosted the USL PDL Southern Conference Finals Sunday at House Park.

The Aztex’s defense of their USL PDL national championship came to an end Sunday at the hands of the Ocala Stampede with a 2-0 loss at House Park.

Next season, Austin will move up a division within the United Soccer League to become a full-time professional team in the USL Pro divison.

The Stampede took an early lead in the 11th minute on an unassisted goal from Karamba Janneh to put Ocala up 1-0. The Aztex had multiple shots on goal, but were unable to get one past the keeper.

Ocala added an insurance goal early in the second half on a give-and-go with Ilija Ilic to go take a 2-0 lead.

While the Aztex’s season comes to an end, the Stampede advance to the USL PDL semifinals. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
