Construction at Austin’s airport causes parking issues

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Growth at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is causing a few growing pains for travelers. ABIA officials suggest you get to the airport early.

Construction work of the east side terminal and with more people flying out of ABIA officials are opening the overflow parking section. The move catches people driving to the airport off guard.

“For those travelers who come to the airport and haven’t gotten the message yet it could make for some pretty congested roadways on the airport,” said Jim Holbrook spokesperson for ABIA.

If the overflow section is open, airport officials recommend you enter through the Spirit of Texas Drive and not the main entrance on Presidential Blvd.
