Austin ISD set to open two new facilities in coming months

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Independent School District is showing off two new facilities that could help your children learn.

The 68,000 square foot Performing Arts Center will host AISD music, theater and visual arts performances. The PAC, as it is known, is part of the district’s goal to get more students involved in the arts. It is set to open next January.

Jaime D. Padron Elementary School on Rundberg Lane will be ready to go this fall. The school is named after Austin Police Officer Jaime Padron, who was killed in the line of duty in 2012.

The school has 57 classrooms and even a solar array on the roof to help provide electricity.
