HONOLULU (AP) — A 50-year-old Austin, Texas, man has died after he got into trouble while snorkeling at Hawaii’s Molokini islet. Three others were stranded on rocks.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser says the snorkeler who died Sunday off Maui was identified as Mark Strickert.

The Coast Guard says the operator of the vessel, Double Scoop, notified authorities that one of their snorkelers was unresponsive and three others were stranded on the rocks in a surf zone.

The Coast Guard responded in a rescue boat. The Maui County Fire Department also responded.

Responders administered CPR to Strickert, who was pronounced dead.

A 23-year-old female crew member was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition. A 48-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in good condition for treatment of scrapes.
