AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police say Jason Lamb, 41, is the man who broke into a woman’s apartment, shot her several times, and then turned the gun on himself.

Meaghan Bernier, 29, died late Sunday night in what police are calling the city’s second family violence homicide of the year. Bernier was originally from the Boston area.

Police responded to a West Austin apartment on Champion Grand View Way about 11:20 p.m., after they say Lamb broke in through Bernier’s door and shot her several times.

Police say that address had a history of domestic violence, and officers had responded at least three times before.

Austin police say they are still investigating the relationship between Lamb and Bernier.

Correction: Austin police reported earlier that Jason Lamb was from Boston. He is from Lampasas.
