RIGA, Latvia (NBC/RTV) — The capital of Latvia is full of the sound of music.

The World Choir Games are going on there, and people are singing all over the city of Riga.

Some 27,000 singers from 74 countries are taking part in the competition.

It’s a joy for music lovers, and they’re standing in line to see and hear performances across the city.

When they’re not singing, choirs are taking master classes and watching other choirs.

There are classical choirs, children’s choirs, pop and spiritual choirs.

One singer from the U.S. said it has been life-changing experience.

“To be here in the World Choir Games with my friends, it is just … it is amazing,” said Charles Cilek. “This is like a dream. This is our dream. We’ve been working towards this for two years now, and now over here, it is beyond our wildest expectations. And it’s so much fun, and we just love here. I wish this would never end.”

One of the biggest events was the Great Celebration concert — with 5,000 singers from around the world and 10,000 Latvians performing a unique concert.
