Kitten emerges from rubble of deadly January blaze

TOLEDO, Ohio (NBC/WNWO) — A sign of new life emerged at the scene of a deadly fire scene.

City crews in Toledo have been tearing down what was left of a small apartment building this week.

Two firefighters were killed there while fighting the fire back in January.

The building had been burned beyond repair, so the city decided it should be torn down.

While being interviewed by NBC station WNWO Tuesday, a man heard a noise in the rubble and went over to see what it was.

After using his hands to move the rubble around, he reached in and pulled out a kitten.

The kitten is already being cared for by a foster family.
