Lane closures could hurt downtown commuters

Lanes closed for water line work

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Starting early Monday, Austin Water crews will be replacing aging wastewater pipe downtown – forcing two lanes on Sixth and Seventh streets to close between Congress Avenue and Brazos Street starting at 7 a.m. Monday.

Austin Water says the street closures will remain in place through 6 a.m. Thursday.

Larger traffic problems could come next week, though. Crews will be working in the same area starting July 21, closing all lanes of Sixth and Seventh streets in the same area.

Those closures will remain in place through Friday, July 25.
