Earlier Report:

Sheriff’s deputies are searching for an elderly man with dementia who walked off and went missing Sunday.

Search-and-rescue teams stopped looking for Antonio Barboa Perea, 87, at daybreak, which is when deputies took over.

Perea went missing from his home in the 6900 block of Evelyn Road at about 6 a.m. Sunday, according to Travis County Emergency Services.

Officials say Perea is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has brown hair and gray eyes. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and maroon pants.

Authorities are focusing their search around his home and an H-E-B store at I-35 and William Cannon Drive that he often visits.

STARFlight spent part of Sunday searching for Perea, and sheriff’s deputies continue their search. Authorities believe Sunday’s heat posed a danger to the man.
