AUSTIN (KXAN) — Comics came to life for many Central Texans Saturday.

The Capital City Comic Con is going on at the Palmer Events Center. It features artists and publishers of comics from around the world.

Kevin Eastman, creator of the Ninja Turtles, attended the convention. Actors from shows like Spartacus, Power Rangers and Arrow also made appearances.

“I’ve been watching Ninja Turtles since I was a kid,” Andrew Hallford said. “I mean, I’ve got ’em all downloaded on my hard drive at the house already.”

The convention is put on by the 501st Legion and benefits Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“We don’t just do conventions,” Niki Powers with 501st Legion said. “We actually go the hospitals and visit these kids and it is an immense joy to us as individuals to be able to provide a smile for those kids even if they pass away 6 months later. At least they got to smile when they saw us.”

Capital City Comic Con runs through Sunday. Doors will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
