GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — Georgetown police say one person is dead following a crash on Interstate 35.

According to officials, the rollover crash happened in Georgetown on Northbound I-35 South of SE Inner Loop Road at about 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators believe a van carrying seven people rolled three times after one of its tires blew out. One person was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officials say four others were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Two people had minor injuries, according to police.

Police closed Northbound I-35 for almost four hours during their investigation. The backup stretched as far as State Highway 45 in Round Rock, causing major delays for many drivers.
