BRENHAM, Texas (AP) — Investigators are trying to determine who’s been growing more than 15,000 marijuana plants on a Central Texas plot.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday announced the seizure of the plants with a street value topping $7.5 million.

Sheriff Otto Hanak in Brenham says the owner of the property in northeast Washington County realized someone was growing marijuana. The suspects had abandoned the field by the time officers were contacted and reached the site.

Authorities did not say when the marijuana was discovered or provide further details of the investigation.

Brenham is 70 miles northwest of Houston.
