AUSTIN (KXAN) — President Obama is waking up in Austin Thursday morning after attending a fundraiser Wednesday night. The President will attend another fundraiser Thursday morning and give a public speech about the economy at the Paramount Theatre.
The President will leave his downtown hotel and head to a fundraiser at Aimee Boone Cunningham’s home at 9:50 a.m. She is the She is the Assistant Secretary for the Center for Reproductive Rights.
Tickets to the private event cost $32,400 and all the money from the fundraiser will also go to the Democratic National Committee
Obama will then give a speech about the economy at the Paramount at 12:15 p.m. Hundreds stood in line on Tuesday got snag free tickets to see the President.
Kinsey Button, a 20-year-old University of Texas junior studying public relations, will introduce the President at the Paramount. She wrote a letter to him about jobs and education and pushing the President to work with Congress.
Button, who is from Houston, wrote in her letter about her father having a tough time finding work and being over qualified after he was laid off from an engineering job.
After his speech, the President is scheduled to depart Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 2:30 p.m.
Air Force One landed in Austin Wednesday night from Dallas where the President met with Governor Rick Perry and talked about the influx of immigrant children at the border. Obama also attended a fundraiser in Dallas.
The President’s motorcade caused several closures on Highway 71 and Mopac as he was taken to filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’ home for a fundraiser benefiting the Democratic National Committee.
