AUSTIN (KXAN) — After the president made his remarks at the Paramount Theatre Wednesday, he headed for Franklin Barbecue.

“I love the barbecue, which I will get right after this,” said President Obama.

The president left the speech and went straight for Franklin Barbecue

“I hear the barbecue is pretty good here,” the president said.

“He came in he got two boxes of brisket, so he got a bunch of stuff for everybody then he headed out,” said Lisa Campbell, who was eating at Franklin. “He shook everybody’s hand along the way.”

Franklin owner Stacy Franklin says the barbecue legend got about a half hour’s notice that they would soon be serving the president.

“It was very exciting…almost missed him because we were stuck in traffic,” said Franklin.

“I know there’s a long line guys, I feel a little bad, but I’m going to cut,” said the president when he arrived.

The president purchased about $300 worth of barbecue.

John Mueller Meat Co. also made barbecue for the president in Dallas, and the president visited Stubb’s last May.
