AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police are securing the area around filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s home ahead of President Obama’s visit Wednesday night.

“Well, (Robert Rodriguez) said he wanted to cook for the president. So what better place to cook for him than his own home,” said Rick del Castillo, who will be performing Wednesday night at the fundraiser with the band Del Castillo.

Several black cars were in the neighborhood Wednesday. The landscaping trucks and other equipment that was near the home earlier in the week had moved.

Austin Police helped block off roads leading up to the Rodriguez home Wednesday afternoon.

“It’s supposed to be a very Texas-themed fund raiser, you know Robert. I mean, he’s all about the Texas theme. So, it’s going to have a lot of that going on. So with the music and with the vibe and everything… it should be a lot of fun,” said Castillo said.

The Tickets for the private, Democratic National Committee event cost between $5,000 and $32,400, which is the highest donation someone is allowed to make.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors Jessica Alba, Demi Lovato, and Danny Trejo will make an appearance.

Rick del Castillo spoke to KXAN News about finding out they got the gig.

“I said ‘the president?’,” said Rick Del Castillo. “I said, ‘awesome, sign me up.'”
