AUSTIN (KXAN) – Two giant Air Force cargo planes landed Tuesday at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport advance of President Barack Obama’s Wednesday visit to Central Texas.
The C-17 “Globemaster” cargo planes carry the presidential motorcade and security equipment.
Austin Police said motorists should expect delays on Wednesday and Thursday along any motorcade routes.
Obama’s only scheduled public appearance in Austin is scheduled for Thursday at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets are required for the event. Streets around the theater will be closed before and during the president’s visit.
The president is scheduled to attend two fundraisers for the DNC; one Wednesday evening and one Thursday.
The visit will also disrupt bus routes in the downtown area, and delays are anticipated throughout the city during the president’s stay.
Bus service along Red River, 8th, 11th and 12th streets will be detoured starting Wednesday.

Municipal Court docket impacted
The Austin Municipal Court will be open for walk-in traffic only on Wednesday after 4 p.m., and all day Thursday because of street closures in the area.
Individuals who are on a scheduled docket on Thursday will have their cases reset and a new docket date will be mailed.
Individuals who have an initial appearance docket (on their citation) will have their initial appearance date extended one week:
- Cases set to appear Wednesday, July 9 will be extended to Wed., July 16
- Cases set to appear Thursday, July 10 will be extended to Thurs., July 17
