Franklin Barbecue back in business after expansion

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Customers were waiting in line for hours once again Tuesday as East Austin’s Franklin Barbecue reopened after two weeks of construction.

The expansion included a new smokehouse and more seating, something owner Aaron Franklin says he hopes will mean less time in line.

Danielle Martin is visiting from California and says her three hours in line were worth it, “We heard the brisket was the best thing ever, so how can you resist amazing brisket?”

The kitchen area was also expanded, something Franklin says he hopes to use to raise his game and make sausage in-house.
