AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police wrapped up an investigation into a suspicious package at the Department of Veterans Affairs building in South Austin on Monday morning.

At about 6:40 a.m., security guards saw what they deemed a suspicious envelope leaning against a trash can and called police.

The building’s address is 1615 Woodward St., near Interstate 35. Officers closed Woodward, from Parker Lane to the Interstate 35 service road as they investigated.  The road has since reopened.

Bomb squad officers determined the envelope in question had nothing suspicious. It contained maintenance documents.
