Keep your pets indoors during fireworks festivities

AUSTIN (KXAN) — While you’re enjoying the fireworks on the Fourth, not everyone in your family might be doing the same.

The Austin Animal Center as well as other animal shelters around Central Texas are reminding people to keep their dogs inside during the celebratory fireworks.

Every Fourth of July, the Austin Animal Center sees a spike in the number of lost pets due to runaways that are frightened by the noise of fireworks.

If you’re looking for a four-legged friend this holiday weekend, the AAC has a summer promotion of $25 adoptions for all pets. T

City shelter pet adoptions are available at both the Austin Animal Center, 7201 Levander Loop, and the City’s overflow kennels at Town Lake Animal Center, 1156 W. Cesar Chavez St. The centers are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
