73-year-old woman killed in Northwest Austin crash


AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 73-year-old woman died at the hospital after being involved in a two-car crash on Wednesday.

The collision happened at Parmer Lane and Cassandra Drive about 12:10 p.m.

Antonia Garcia was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where she died, according to Austin Police.

The car she was riding in was trying to turn north onto Cassandra Drive when it was hit by a car heading west on Parmer Lane.

Another adult and child were taken to the hospital, Austin-Travis County EMS said. Their injuries were not life threatening.

Police are still investigating the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit detectives at 512-974-4424.

This was Austin’s 26th fatal traffic crash and the 33rd fatality of 2014. At this time in 2013, there were 39 deadly crashes and 41 fatalities.

CORRECTION: Austin police said Wednesday the woman who died was in her mid-30s.
