Woman dies from injuries weeks after crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A woman hurt in a crash earlier this month died last week from injuries she sustained in the collision.

Maria Sagno Flores, 65, was riding in a Chevy Silverado along the eastbound U.S. Highway 290 service road when the truck collided with a Toyota Camry heading south on the State Highway 130 service road. Both drivers claimed they had a green light, police said.

Flores was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge after saying she was hurt. On June 23, she died from trauma to the chest.

Police say alcohol is not a suspected factor in the crash, but the collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Austin Police Department Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8543.

This was Austin’s 25th fatal traffic crash and the 32nd fatality of 2014. At this time in 2013, there were 39 fatality crashes and 40 fatalities.
