With Independence Day fast approaching, there are plenty of options for fun and fireworks in central Texas. Because of construction at Auditorium Shores, this year’s Austin show will be held at Circuit of the Americas.
Among the other options is the Pfirecracker Pfestival in Pflugerville.
The show has gone on for years along Lake Pflugerville, but the city says this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The music begins at 3 p.m. Friday with several bands performing before and after the 9 p.m. fireworks show. Both shores are open for a blast this year.
“On the north and south shore we’ll have music,” city spokesperson Terri Waggoner said. “The north side has kayak rentals and the beach. Taking the trail to the south shore you’ve got fishing piers, plenty of space and demonstration tents… So you can pick and choose.”
You can get from one shore to the other by the path that runs along the dam.
Thousands are expected, and it may be the answer for people searching for something new.
“We’ve had a lot of phone calls from vendors and Austin residents,” Waggoner added. “Some people haven’t been here in awhile and we’re ready for a big crowd and a great time.”
One important note: This year, there will be no on-site parking. Instead, shuttles will be running starting at noon Friday from Pflugerville High School and Hendrickson High School. The shuttles allow you to arrive early and stay late.
The park will be closed Thursday at 1pm to allow crews plenty of room to set up. Then the fun, er, pfun, begins.
