SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — On Friday, the San Marcos Police Department released the dash camera video showing a chase that left two people dead earlier this week.

In the video, you can see the officer pull in behind a truck and attempt to pull it over near the Rio Vista neighborhood.

The driver sped up and tried to get away but when he got to the roundabout intersection at Cheatham Street and Rio Vista Street, the driver lost control and slammed into the roundabout.

The vehicle burst into flames on impact with the landscaping.

Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the driver was going as fast as 60 mph before the crash happened.

Police said Fabian Dionicio Hernandez, 39, was driving the truck. It took several days for the medical examiner to confirm his identity. The passenger has been identified as 43-year-old San Marcos resident Charles Lee Crayton.
