Chief Medical Examiner resigns from Travis County


AUSTIN (TEXAS) –  Travis County’s Chief Medical Examiner is resigning in an effort to move closer to his family in Ohio.

David Dolinak, M.D., will resign effective Aug. 18. A nationwide search will be conducted to find the county’s new Chief Medical Examiner.

The Medical Examiner’s Office investigates all sudden, unexpected, violent, suspicious or unnatural deaths in travis county.

Dolinak has been the Chief Medical Examiner since 2006 and have overseen an expansion of the department which provides services to 42 counties outside of Travis County. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
